Audacityv4 has arrived, bringing a major overhaul to one of the most popular free audio editors. The update introduces a fully redesigned interface built on Qt with modern UI elements, customizable workspaces, high DPI rendering, new clip editing tool, and more flexible recording workflow. The release adds a new project manager, expands support for Nyquist and VST3 plugins, improves spectral editing, redesigned envelope tools, and clearer metering and playback controls. Audacity now highlights its optimal cloud-saving service, but the core software remains completely free, including staples like noise reduction, vocal removal, and transcription features.
And here's a quick stat for you. 62.1% of adults listen to podcasts on Apple iPhone, by far the dominant device for podcast consumption. Meanwhile, 22.8% listen on Android phone, and 6.8% use a Windows computer. And only 1% of adult listens on an iPad, making it one of the least effective devices for podcasting. And wrapping up with this story, Goldhanger has officially wrapped up the first ever The Rest is Fest, a three-day takeover of London's Southbank Centre that brought the network's biggest shows together under one roof. Across 22 live events, the festival sold an impressive 26,000 tickets, filling the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Purcell Room from the 4th to the 6th of September. For the first time, much of Goldhanger's universe appeared in one place, politics, history, football, entertainment, science, money, literature, espionage, drama, all reimagined as live experiences. The lineup mixed flagship shows with special collaborations and one-off formats built for the festival. Standout moments include Gary Linker in conversation with Stanley Tucci, debut live editions of The Rest is Football, The Rest is Money, The Book Club, and The Rest is Science, plus a two-pack performances of The Rest in History.
