Quince is absolutely flooding podcast ads — $7.5 million in July, outspending everyone, with BetterHelp and Amazon trailing behind. Hero Bread, Accenture, and Lululemon are the surprise climbers, jumping fast in month‑over‑month growth.

YouTube had its classic “oops” moment: The Parent Tap got banned, appealed, denied instantly… and then reinstated once an actual human looked at it. The algorithm stays dramatic.

Patreon is in full makeover mode, rolling out 30 new discovery features that are already driving 1.5 million new members a month. From auto‑pulled previews to bite‑sized clips to new Niches and anti‑AI‑scraping tools, Patreon wants to be where fans find you — not just where they pay you.

And globally? Podcast listeners outside North America are putting in the hours. South Africa, Indonesia, and Mexico are tuning in way more than the U.S. and Canada, who are… trying.

Big spenders, platform backtracks, creator upgrades, and global momentum.

It's Friday the 28th. We have the fastest four minutes in podcasting. I'm Gary Spurgeon, podcasting from Jacksonville, Florida. And in today's show, podcast engagement is popping off outside North America. I'll have more of this in just a few. I'm here with your fast facts, fresh trends and the metrics that actually matter with just enough fun to keep it moving. Let's get into the numbers.

And here's a stat for you. Quince is dominating podcast advertising right now. Magellan AI says the brand spent 7.5 million in July, more than any other advertiser. BetterHelp and Amazon followed with about 5.4 million each. And the fastest rising in the space, Hero Bread and Accenture, all making major moves in the month over month growth.

Patreon is leveling up from a membership platform to a discovery engine, and podcasters are front and center. The company is rolling out 30 new features to help creators get found, convert free fans and build real communities. Early results look strong. Patreon says its new discovery tools are already driving 1.5 million new free and paid monthly members every month. For podcasters, the standout upgrades include suggested previews that automatically put the most engaging moment for an episode, and clips that turn long-form content into bite-sized highlights. Patreon is also reworking its algorithm to give small creators a better shot at being discovered. Add a new topic basis, niches, deeper revenue analytics, stronger anti-AI scrapping projections, and upgraded community tools. And it's clear, Patreon wants to be more than where fans pay. It wants to be where they find you in the first place.

And here's a quick stat for you. Podcast engagement is popping off outside North America. In 2025, listeners in South Africa, 66%, Indonesia, 59%, and Mexico was 50%. We're tuning in for at least one hour a week. Meanwhile, in the US, it's sitting at 38%, and Canada is at 31%. Statista says the global crowd is showing up, and honestly, they're putting North America to shame. And that's your quick stat.

And we're wrapping up the week. It's Friday. Yes, it's Friday. It's Friday. Yes, it's Friday. The tap has officially been turned back on. The other day, we talked about the parent tap getting booted off YouTube for a ban it didn't actually have, an appeal that was denied so fast it might as well have been a reflex. Now YouTube's walking back, saying that after, quote, taking another look, the channel isn't violating anything at all. In other words, the algorithm giveth, the algorithm taketh away, and sometimes the humans have to step in and say, whoops, our bad.

And that'll do it for today. If you enjoyed the episode, hit follow on Spotify, so you don't miss tomorrow's show. And you can hear us on every podcasting platform, including Apple and iHeart. On Monday's show, people listen to podcasts because they want to hear discussions on topics of interest. I'll have more of this, I'll have more of this in the upcoming episode. Got a tip from today's show? Drop us a quick note. It helps the show grow and keeps these episodes coming. I'm Gary Spurgeon with the fastest four minutes in podcasting, podcasting by the numbers. And remember, you're only one podcast away from changing your world.
